Course Description: Algebra II/Advanced Algebra is the culminating course in a sequence of three high school courses designed to ensure career and college readiness. It is designed to prepare students for the fourth course options relevant to their career pursuits.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of GSE Algebra I and Geometry.
Textbooks –
Algebra and Trigonometry 5th Edition by Larson and Hostetler
** I will not be issuing textbooks. If you have any concerns please let me know and I will be glad to issue you a textbook to take home.
Grades for the semester will be determined as follows:
1st Eight Weeks

Homework ................. 300 B ............................. 520 - 578.5 80 - 89 %
Quizzes ...................... 150 C ............................. 455 - 513.5 70 - 79 %

Expectations – Supplies
1. Be Respectful 1. Notebook – 3 ring binder
2. Be Responsible 2. Notebook paper
3. Be Studious 3. Pencils with erasers
Assignments – All assignments (worksheets, pop quizzes, quizzes, and tests) are electronic documents and should be completed on chromebooks or cell phones if allowed. Tests and pop quizzes can only be done in class all other assignments can be done at home if absent from school or as homework if not finished in class.
Homework Policy - Every student will start the session with a 100% for their homework grade. Each time the student does not complete an assignment, 5 points will be deducted from that grade. Every assignment will be checked for completion and accuracy then gone over for understanding. Late assignments will be accepted for minimal credit.
Attendance –If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get notes from a classmate. We will follow the school’s guidelines for make-up work. Please be aware there is a time limit for make- up work.
Food – You may not bring food or drinks of any kind to class. Please leave lunch for lunch time.
Cell phones – Cell phones will not be part of our learning environment. Please place your cell phone in a safe place until after class.
I-pods and other electronics – I-pods will not be needed. If a lesson calls for a special electronic device, I will notify you ahead of time. Please leave all electronics at home with the exception of calculators.
